Application
Sealer on a Roll is a sealing tape that quickly and efficiently restores the OEM finish on doors, bonnets, boot lids, wheel arches, roof seams and many other areas.
The double profile tape is available in 6, 8, 10 and 20 mm, the half-moon tape in 3, 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm, and the wide flat tape in 12 and 15 mm. The contoured profile allows to perfectly replicate the finish of most vehicles. It is easy to apply, requires little experience, and can be overpainted immediately. Spray on the primer in two thin coats, apply the sealing tape and you are ready to paint. The sealing tape (10 mm) can e.g. be used on folded seams to restore damaged areas to their original appearance.
A set consists of the following items:
- 83681: SOR flat, 6 mm x 16 m
- 83682: SOR flat, 8 mm x 16 m
- 83683: SOR flat, 10 mm x 16 m
- 83679: SOR Multi Roll
- 85304: SOR Primer
Instructions
- Roughen the surface of the panel with a pad and remove any sealant residue from the seamed part of the surface.
- Remove dust with a blow gun and wipe the surface with a cleaning agent or solvent. The surface should be clean and dry before applying the primer.
- Spray the primer evenly in one direction in two light coats according to the instructions until the surface appears glossy. It is essential to use the specific sealing tape primer to ensure optimum adhesion of the tape as well as reliable corrosion protection.
- Allow to flash off for approx. 5 – 15 minutes at 20 °C until the primer has dried and the surface is no longer sticky.
- Start from a corner and apply the tape in one direction. Carefully peel off the backing film, so that the adhesive does not come into contact with dirt or your fingers. Start by using your finger to press the tape into place. Never pull or stretch the tape. The ambient temperatur should be at 10 – 20 °C during application. At lower temperatures there is a risk of the tape losing its excellent adhesion. Warming the tape prior to application can improve contact with the surface. Ensure that the tape is firmly attached to the surface, especially at the ends, otherwise it may easily peel off. Leave a little space to apply putty. Cut the tape with a pair of scissors.
- Carefully check that the tape is properly adhered, especially at the ends. Use the multi-roller to pressure the tape (flat profile only). Move the roller in the opposite direction to that in which the tape was applied. Use light pressure to remove any air, then press down firmly with more pressure to ensure secure bond to the panel.
- Check both ends of the tape and remove any dirt.
- Use putty to fill in edges, gaps, seams, spot welds, etc.
- Check again for lifting or peeling at one end, and for gaps between tape and panel.
- Paint.
- Dry the panel. If using infrared drying do not use temperatures above 70 °C. Allow to air dry for 15 minutes before air drying.
