Application
Tool and die salvage and repair, stainless steel, manganese, alloy steel, high carbon and cast steel, spring steel, joining and repair of unknown or dissimilar type steels, and stud removal.Typical applications are crane booms, tool steels, leaf springs, gear teeth, worm drives and sprockets, chain links and drawbars, difficult and dissimilar steels and broken bolt extraction. All position capability, smooth arc and instant strike/restrike capability make this electrode the best choice for maintenance. It performs equally well on AC or DC and is virtually spatter free. It also provides good resistance to corrosion and heat, while producing a homogeneous, crack resistant deposit. Weld deposits are machinable as applied and work harden during use. Deposits are not heat treatable.
Manuals
Remove any loosely adhering metal and wire brush away oxides, dirt, and any other contaminating substances. It is not necessary to grind flame-cut edges. Use any stick electrode welding machine available. Set the amperage within the range prescribed for the electrode size and initiate the arc. Vary the amperage and the arc gap up or down to suit. Use any technique from stringer bead to wide weave. The electrode lead angle is not critical – vary to suit application. Self-releasing slag should be brushed away between passes.
